Field Experience
The O'Connell Center acts as an approved agency where qualified students of the College of Health and Human Performance, or other interested majors, may complete their field experience/practicum/independent study hours. We provide a practical learning environment, with the opportunity to participate in various activities related to the day to day operations of the facility and its' events. The intent of this program is to offer an opportunity to understand all of the details that go into the management of a multi-purpose arena from the front line standpoint and to understand how to apply those experiences to managerial decision making. Field Experience students gain hands on experience in:
| Setting Events | Shadowing of Supervisors |
| Ticket Taking | Overnight Changeover |
| Working Technical Crews | Teamwork |
| Securing of Parking Lots | Plus much more! |
Opportunities to participate in our field experience program are limited to Fall and Spring semesters. While we offer flexibility in your volunteer schedule; due to the nature of our industry, nights and weekends are expected.
If you are interested in a career in facility management and event management, have a strong will to succeed and are highly motivated please email your resume and the following application to Meredith Palmberg at mpalm15@ufl.edu.
