Facilities Usage and Guidelines

MAIN ARENA
1. The Main Arena is used for instructional purposes, concerts, athletic events, banquets, commencements, speaking engagements, special student programs, trade shows and various other forms of recreation/entertainment.
2. Hard-sole shoes are not permitted on the Main Arena floor when the wooden basketball floor is in place.
3. The wooden basketball floor is for use by the intercollegiate basketball teams and approved intramural teams only; pick-up basketball games are not allowed.
4. Rental of the Main Arena shall include areas of the O'Connell Center reasonably necessary for ingress and egress for personnel and equipment as well as those areas necessary for parking and unloading of equipment. The user shall not be entitled to use or occupy any other portion of the Center or adjacent areas.

PRACTICE BASKETBALL COURT
1. The Practice Basketball Court is reserved for UF intercollegiate basketball and volleyball teams, educational classes, scheduled intramural games and approved special events.
2. Use of the Practice Court is permitted only when an authorized staff member is present.
3. Hard-sole shoes are not permitted on the court.
4. The Practice Court may be rented for special events such as receptions and banquets with the approval of the O'Connell Center Director.

DANCE STUDIO
1. The Dance Studio is reserved for UF classes and Floridance, the UF dance company.
2. The Dance Studio is to be used only when an instructor or supervisor is present.
3. Hard-sole shoes are not permitted in the Dance Studio.
4. The Dance Studio may be used only for dance classes and practices and approved special events. However, aerobics classes are not permitted in the Dance Studio.
5. Eating, drinking and smoking are not permitted in the Dance Studio at any time.
6. Only those enrolled in classes or groups using the Dance Studio may enter the area.
7. Dance students may use the Dance Studio for individual practices during Floridance rehearsals with the dance supervisor's approval.

MARTIAL ARTS ROOM
1. The Martial Arts Room is used for registered UF classes, recreational classes, clubs, and approved special events.
2. Hard-sole shoes are not permitted in the Martial Arts Room except in the case of selected special events such as press conferences, catering, etc.
3. The weekly calendar posted outside the Martial Arts Room should always be checked for confirmed class times.
4. Students should not enter the Martial Arts Room until the scheduled class time.
5. Participants are expected to keep the Martial Arts Room clean at all times.
6. Classes and clubs must follow the posted schedules by beginning and ending promptly.
7. Spectators are allowed entrance by instructors and/or O'Connell Center personnel only.
8. Club reservations must be made through the Department of Recreational Sports.

GYMNASTICS STUDIO
1. The Gymnastics Studio is reserved for UF classes and intercollegiate gymnastics only.
2. No one is permitted in the Gymnastics Studio unless a coach or authorized instructor is present.
3. Hard-sole shoes are not permitted in the studio at any time.
4. Eating, drinking and smoking are not permitted in the studio at any time.
5. Equipment changes must be made under the supervision and approval of a coach or instructor.
6. Classes and participants must follow the posted schedules of operational hours.
7. Classes are scheduled by the College of Health and Human Performance through the O'Connell Center administrative office.

JOGGING TRACK, AND VOLLEYBALL AREAS
1. The jogging track may be used by UF students, staff and faculty when the O'Connell Center is open. However, hours may vary due to scheduled events in the Center.
2. Jogging is permitted on Levels 2 and 3 of the Main Arena. Joggers use these areas at their own risk.
3. The volleyball courts may be used only through approved recreational programs.

LOCKER ROOMS
1. Men's and Women's Locker Rooms are available to UF students, staff and faculty with proper identification.
2. Lockers are not permanently assigned, but users are encouraged to bring their own locks to secure their belongings during operating hours.
3. Locks must be removed at the end of each day or they will be removed by the O'Connell Center.
4. The O'Connell Center is not responsible for lost or stolen items within the Center.

O'CONNELL CENTER POOL
1. Pool use is limited to the UF swim team, registered UF classes, the Gator Swim Club program and recreational swimming. Any exceptions must be approved by the O'Connell Center Director or his/her designee.
2. Swimmers may enter the pool area only when a lifeguard is on duty.
3. Swimmers must shower before entering the pool.
4. Eating, drinking and smoking are not permitted in the pool or on the pool deck.
5. Inappropriate behavior is prohibited in the pool and pool area.
6. Animals are prohibited in the pool and pool area.
7. Swimmers must sign in and present a University of Florida Gator One Card to the ID checkers.
8. Swimmers must enter and exit through the men's or women's locker rooms. If there is a special event, entry and exit will be through the pool deck glass door, located at Gate 3, Level 1.
9. Scuba gear is prohibited in the pool, unless approved in writing by the O'Connell Center Director or his/her designee.
10. Swimming between the bulkheads is not permitted.
11. Only members of the University of Florida's Swimming and Diving team (under proper supervision of the UF Coaching staff) are permitted to dive from the diving boards or the 5 and 10 meter platforms. No diving is allowed when both bulkheads are positioned under the boards and diving is allowed only when the lane ropes are removed.
12. The University Athletic Association diving team practice is not allowed during classes or recreational swimming hours.
13. Bathing suits must be worn by all swimmers. Shorts of any kind are prohibited in the pool.
14. When a diving board is open, the lane lines and flags in front of that board must be removed. Swimmers in the lane must be notified and moved before the lane line is removed.
15. Pool capacity for swimmers is 370.
16. Recreational hours are administered by the Department of Recreational Sports and funded by Student Government.

FREE STYLE WEIGHT ROOM AND CONDITIONING ROOM
1. The Free Style Weight Room and Contitioning Room are used for UF conditioning and weight lifting classes as well as recreational weight lifting.
2. Recreational hours are sponsored by the Department of Recreational Sports and funded by Student Government.
3. Appropriate clothes must be worn when lifting. This includes rubber sole shoes and warm-up suits or sweats.
4. Shoes must be worn at all times in the weight rooms.
5. Users must bring a towel and wipe off benches and pads after use.
6. Recreational weight lifters must present a University of Florida Gator One Card to the attendant and sign in before entering the weight rooms.
7. Storage racks are provided for personal items. Users are encouraged to bring their own locks and use the O'Connell Center locker room facilities. The O'Connell Center assumes no responsibility for lost or stolen items.
8. Users must replace weights to their proper location after use.
9. Eating, drinking and smoking are not permitted in the Weight Room or Conditioning Room.
10. Attendants are available to give assistance and instructions. Novice users are encouraged to ask for their help.
