2 Weeks until the O’Connell Center reopens for Fall Commencement.
Countdown to UF Fall Commencement – 3 weeks.
The O’Connell Center is officially 4 weeks away from reopening for Fall Commencement.
Concrete precast seating decks, which are poured offsite, have been installed on the steel framing. These concrete decks will be the base of the fixed chair back seating being placed on the concourse level of the arena.
Steel framing is installed that will serve as the main support system for the new fixed seating on the concourse level of the main arena.
The Gate 1 roof and main arena seats are officially removed. Work begins in the martial arts room and new main gate.
Excavation begins in preparation for our new plaza and east entry.
First major renovations begin in the main arena with the demolition of the bleachers.
All Stephen C. O’Connell Center employees officially move out of the building into temporary office spaces.
January 1 – March 16
Renovation begins on auxiliary rooms not being utilized by the O’Connell Center. Arena remains fully functional.
